Warm up to winter and ease your chocolate craving with this recipe for choc moc, it’s a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso.
A few days ago I met my friend Anna for dinner and we laughed so hard about my choc moc situation, that all waiters turned around to see what’s going on. Every other week we meet for lady’s night and as always, there were several messages forth and back until we settled on a Japanese restaurant.
Anna loves this place, because of their tasty and healthy (read better for your waistline) options. Therefore we picked lots of veggies and lean fish and started even debating about wine yes or no, ridiculous I know! Please understand, it’s the holiday season and weeks full of cookies as well as wining and dining are ahead of us.
Talking about making the right choices, I told Anna, I even replaced my daily after lunch chocolate treats by making choc moc to pick me up. She was stoked and asked for the recipe and I told her to melt two to three pieces of chocolate in milk… When she started laughing: “you are fooling yourself and serving your chocolate addiction by drinking your daily treats!” Again my stomach gained victory over my brain.
- 175 ml / ¾ cup milk (2% or whole milk)
- 2-3 pieces of chocolate, semi-sweet or milk
- one espresso shot (about 30 ml / ⅛ cup) or strong coffee
- Pour milk into mug, add chocolate and heat in microwave oven until hot. Stir well to dissolve the chocolate.
- Make espresso and pour into the chocolate milk.
I am not into whipped cream, but this choc moc would be great with a dollop of cream. Also there is nothing wrong with a choc moc laced with dark rum!
